Cancer Horoscope – September 2026
The month starts with Mars in your 1st house, putting the focus firmly on you and your identity, needs, energy and sense of direction.
Mars in Cancer can make you particularly protective and emotionally reactive. But the best use of it is the motivation to act on something you’ve been wanting for yourself. It can give you courage. It’s always a privilege to have Mars in your own sign for a little while! Have you done something courageous since the second week of August? If not yet, then what can you initiate that would ordinarily put you off? You might find you think of something deeply true to you.
For example, when Mars came round to my Rising Sign this January, I started my Instagram to promote my birth chart readings. I felt very uncomfortable putting myself out there and sharing my ideas on Astrology. I hated it! But there was no stopping me! I knew I had to do it to promote my service and build the small business I was envisioning for myself. I genuinely felt the courage to do it the moment Mars came ripping through Capricorn! Mars gives you itchy feet and can make you get on with it!
On the 10th, Mercury enters your 4th house of home and foundations. You’ll be thinking a lot about family or talking more than usual to your parents or family members more at this time. You might be organising the home, changing subscriptions, paying bills etc. Your siblings might pull your attention in some way. You might be thinking about moving house or going to therapy. At the same time, Venus enters your 5th house of children, creativity, romance, pleasure and self-expression. Scorpio is on your 5th house which adds intensity to this area of your life. Fun is rarely superficial for Cancers. You may become deeply absorbed in something creative, experience a more passionate romantic connection, or discover something about yourself or through your relationship with a child.
On September 10 Uranus turns retrograde in Gemini in your 12th house of the unconscious, retreat, endings and things happening behind the scenes.
This begins a period of looking back at the internal changes that have been happening since Uranus entered Gemini. Something that has been happening unconsciously may become more obvious.
You may become aware of an old pattern, habit or way of thinking that you are ready to break free from. It trines Pluto from your 8th house, so there might be something about a hidden influence that you have in a relationship, or vice versa.
On September 11, the New Moon in Virgo falls in your 3rd house of communication, siblings, neighbours, learning, writing and your immediate environment.
This is a chance to begin something new around communication or learning. You might start writing, studying, teaching, speaking, creating content or changing the way you communicate with someone.
Because this New Moon connects positively with Mars in your 1st house, there is a strong theme of finding your voice and taking action. You’re ready to say it or do something about it. In what way are you becoming more visible? You could have an idea for a series for social media, and be sharing your knowledge and personality to connect with like minded people and build an audience for example. Alternatively, you could be moving home, if so, it probably won’t be far away. You could have new housemates at this time or begin a fresh start with a sibling.
September 18 Chiron moves back into your 11th house of friendships, groups, belonging and future aspirations. This may bring an old wound around belonging back to the surface. You may question where you fit, whether your friendships reflect who you are now, or whether you’re pursuing goals that genuinely fit who you’re becoming.
September 23 the Sun enters Libra your 4th house, increasing the emphasis on home and family for the month ahead.
This is a period for turning inward and paying attention to your private life. You may want to spend more time at home, make changes to your living environment or resolve something within the family. Neptune will be retrograding at the beginning of your 10th house of career but this is also the parent axis, 4th house is your foundations and 10th is your route out into the world, and your parents to an extent. Neptune can confuse, and make foggy. You could find a parent is changing in some way or more to do with you, it could emphasise that your public image is due to evolve over the coming years. It seems like a pivotal month for you Cancer!
This is the big culmination of the month. The Aries Full Moon at 3° on September 26 falls in your 10th house of career, public life, reputation, achievement and direction.
Something you’ve been working towards may reach a culmination. You could receive recognition, see the results of your efforts, make an important career decision or realise that your professional direction needs to change.
Because it is Aries, there is a strong theme of independence, initiative and taking control of your own direction.
Think back to the Aries New Moon around April. What began then? What were you trying to initiate? This Full Moon may show you what has come of it.
But Neptune’s involvement means the answer may not be completely clear. You could experience a powerful realisation without immediately knowing what to do with it. Alternatively, if you are involved with the arts; music, literature, painting, film, this could be a wonderful coming out of a creative project that puts you in the spotlight.
There is also a major home versus career theme because the Sun has just entered your 4th house.
On September 28 Mars enters Leo, your 2nd house of money, income, possessions and self-worth.
This gives you more energy to improve your financial situation. You may want to earn more, ask for more, start a new income stream or become more independent financially.
You may be motivated to prove to yourself that you’re capable of creating greater security. Watch impulsive spending, however.
September 30 Mercury enters Scorpio, your 5th house, bringing your thoughts back towards creativity, children, romance and pleasure.
You may want to talk about something you’ve been creating, start a new creative project, or have an important conversation around children. After such a professionally significant month, September ends by bringing you back towards self-expression and fun!
Overall, September is about finding your voice, focusing on your foundations and looking ahead at your career direction, albeit with some confusion possibly.
But September begins with you becoming more assertive about who you are and what you want. The New Moon then asks you to find your voice and communicate something new. By the end of the month, the Full Moon brings a much bigger question about your career and direction in the world.
Good luck this month Cancer, and see you in October!
